The role of hand-brewed coffee filter paper
Coffee filter paper accounts for a small proportion of the total investment in hand-brewed coffee, but it has a significant impact on the flavor quality of coffee. You may not imagine that the development of coffee filter paper has been more than 100 years. Although the filter paper is not large in size, it plays a vital role in the brewing process.
The role of coffee filter paper is to filter out the coffee powder when brewing coffee, without residue, so that the coffee flavor can be cleaner and without odor. In the 19th century, there was no real “coffee filter paper” in the coffee industry. At that time, people basically added coffee powder directly to the water, and then filtered the coffee grounds after boiling. Generally, “metal filter” and “cloth filter” were the main methods, but the craftsmanship at that time was not so exquisite. There was always a thick layer of fine coffee powder at the bottom of the filtered coffee liquid. Although coffee tastes good, I believe that most people do not like to drink the residue of coffee powder. Coffee filter paper is very important for the “cleanliness” of a cup of coffee.
Before buying filter paper, we must first know clearly what filter cup is used directly. If you are using a fan-shaped filter cup, you need to choose a fan-shaped coffee filter paper; if you are using a conical filter cup, you need to choose a conical coffee filter paper; if you are using a flat filter cup, you need to choose a corrugated cake cup coffee filter paper.
The size of the filter paper also depends on the size of the filter cup. Currently, there are two common specifications of filter paper, small filter paper for 1-2 people and large filter paper for 3-4 people. If a large filter paper is placed on a small filter cup, it will cause inconvenience in water injection. If a small filter paper is placed on a large filter cup, it will cause obstacles to brewing a large amount of coffee powder. Therefore, you must choose a suitable filter paper.
